I am a student, currently studying BSc Computer Science at Newcastle University. I have intermediate knowledge of Java, Python & Client Side Web Technologies (HTML, CSS, Javascript) & PHP. I also have a large amount of experience designing and running Wordpress websites.
During my time at Despatch Cloud I did a number of different jobs including testing their software, creating a language pack for the software, customer service, some HTML & CSS design work and helping to create their new Wordpress website.
As a Student Ambassador; I have worked with the student recruitment team at events and open days for secondary school aged children and prospective students, advertising the university as a whole and the School of Computing. I have worked in a team on tasks such as Campus Tours, Accommodation Tours and activites on what going to university is like.
I spent a week at the Hull Immersive Visualization Enviroment (HIVE), working in a team in the research facility doing a number of projects, involving Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Arduino Circuit Boards.
I spent a week at Indicoll Design Agency, a Website Design business located in Beverley. While I was there, I was responsible for updating websites in order to improve their search engine ranking and making minor code changes to make the websites more efficent.
Currently at the start of my second year of studies, on target for a first-class degree. In my first year of studies I studied a variety of different areas of computer science including but not limited to Computer Architecture, Web Design and Construction, Mathematics for Computer Science and Programming. I am currently also in the process of gaining my NCL+ award, an award for putting several hours in developing interpersonal and leadership skills through extra curriculum activities.

I have been a member of The Scout Association since 2008. As a youth member, I achieved my Chief Scouts Gold Award - the highest award in the Scouts section.
For the past 6 years I have also volunteered as a leader. I currently have a few different roles in Scouting, including Assistant Group Scout Leader at a group in Beverley, East Yorkshire and Assistant Cub Scout Leader in Cramlington, Northumberland. I work with other volunteers to produce an interesting and varied program of meetings, as well as doing some more admin-based jobs such as producing emails and letters to be sent out to members.
I have used my knowledge to provide technical support to my group, district & county. I have also designed & delivered a number of technology based activies such as using Python, learning about how computers work and game design. I also designed and continue to maintain my group's website, making sure it is functional but also keeps to the Scouting brand.
I am currently secretary of the Scout and Guide Society at Newcastle University. In this role I do a number of different jobs, including taking the minutes at committee meetings, organizing activities for the society to do such as hikes and camping trips and being a point of contact for members to get in touch with if they have any questions or queries.
